A genre bending, irreverent, wholly unpredictable short film by Emily Jenkins and Justin Black.
TERMINALLY IN LOVE is a first-person journey through a haze of heartbreak, pot smoke, heroic delusions, failed connections, wistful fantasies and cringeworthy dreams.
TIL is Emily Jenkins and Justin Black’s first film as co-directors after a long history of creative collaboration. Their first feature film is in development.
Funded by Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council
and Toronto Arts Council.
Behind the Scenes
Terminally in Love began with the concept of directly depicting the human experience through cinema. What do our thoughts sound like, what does it look like to enter a daydream, and how can we recreate the patterns on our closed eyelids?
For our first-person cinematography, we created a custom-built POV rig using an ARRI Alexa Mini + 14mm Master Prime lens and Movi Pro stabilizer.
This 60lb rig was worn by body actor Maccie Paquette and controlled wirelessly with a motion sensing helmet, for the highest quality first-person footage possible.
